OCP intranet

21 June 2007
After successfully designing their website, One Central Park more recently commissioned us to design and build an intranet. The aim of this intranet is to improve internal communications by providing a secure area on which to place commonly used information and documentation. As a large science and technology park, One Central Park have opted to publish information such as news and events, maintenance and help desk information, details of room hire and menus available in their on-site canteen.
There are however many other types of information organisations can choose to put on an intranet, these include business intelligence reports, financial documentation such as annual and interim results, brand guidelines, stationery, image library, forms, department targets and progress, incentive schemes, company news, phone lists, work schedules and diaries, company policies etc
Developing an intranet has many benefits such as:
- Time saving - when frequently used documents are located in one place it makes it easier for all employees to find them more quickly, thus saving time and increasing work productivity.
- Improves vertical communication within the organisation encouraging staff input and opinions via forums and discussion boards.
- Aids staff integration through use of discussion forums, classified staff ads and advertisement of company social events.
A successful intranet is a combination of good information and good technology. Like websites, intranets need to be maintained regularly in order to present the most up-to-date information. The intranets that we design and construct for our clients incorporate the Forepoint Content Management System and as such are easy to edit and update information.
For more information on how we can help you implement a successful intranet or any questions you may have regarding the subject, please contact Andrew Craig, Senior Web Developer, he will be happy to help you.
