Final Report for Laser Foundation

20 August 2007
Laser (London and South Eastern Library Region) was founded in 1928, with its role established by the Public Libraries and Museums Act 1964.
In 2000 the Department for Culture Media and Sport (DCMS) made a decision to make library regions coterminous with government regions. Due to lack of funding, Laser was dissolved and its assets transferred in order to set up the Laser Foundation, a charitable organisation whose profits were used to promote improvements to public library facilities.
In 2007, the Laser Foundation was dissolved and a report commissioned to highlight its research findings and achievements.
Forepoint, Laser and the Laser Foundation have historically worked together, fully understanding the importance of the work that they carried out. Consequently this made us the perfect choice to design and produce their Final Report 2007. Our designers worked at Board level with the Laser Foundation in order to ensure that their key messages were conveyed accurately.
The report focuses on the valuable work that the organisation researched and commissioned over its lifetime, more specifically compliance with Disability Discrimination Act 1995, the future of public libraries, information technology and community research.
