Moto leading the way with moto-way.com
Moto is the UK's leader in motorway service areas with 45 locations throughout the country. Forepoint originally developed the Moto brand and website in 2001 when Compass Group and Granada demerged. Granada Service Areas were rebranded Moto under Compass Group ownership.
Since launch, the Moto website (www.moto-way.com) has received significant visitor numbers each year, looking for a wide range of information relating to the services Moto offer. With leading brands including; Marks & Spencer, WHSmith, Costa Coffee onboard, it was time to make the website reflect the quality of the services available.
We had quite a tight deadline to complete a full overhaul of the facilities available on the website. The first decision made was to incorporate Google Maps on to the site to allowing site users to locate and filter the facilities available using a mapping system that many people are familiar with. Maybe you have a fondness for KrispyKreme doughnuts? No problem – you can quickly filter the Moto locations on the map to highlight the service areas on your route that stock them!
We then had the idea of including extra information and interest into the website including points of interest such as castles, National Trust locations, theme parks and zoos. A calendar to display sports, music and other events and festivals on the map was also added. There’s even a route planner to help get you there. We hope that this will draw traffic not only back to the website, but to Moto locations in the area.
The design of the site is a radical change to the old site as it is not heavily influenced by the Moto green colour as the client wished to focus on the quality of the facilities and partners at each location. The dominant area of the homepage is a rotating showcase of the convenience, food and drink facilities available.
The original functions of the old site can still be found in the footer of all the site pages and enables Moto visitors to send feedback on their Moto experiences, find a career in Moto or support the Moto in the Community Trust.
